Apollo is a 3 year-old pit bull from Utica, NY whose sad story is the catalyst behind this petition and an eye-opener on the drastic need for change. On Sunday, January 24th, 2011, this dog was left outside by its owner and ended up tied to a picnic table all night in -20 degree weather. Thankfully, the dog was found the next morning in just enough time that he was still alive, but barely. The dogs owner claimed that he was walking Apollo that Sunday night when he got away and was unable to find him. He also claims he doesn't know how his dog ended up tied to a table.

The other half of this story that has raised so much awareness into the gutless animal cruelty laws in New York is that aside from Apollos frostbite injuries, he was also extremely malnourished, unlicensed, unvaccinated, and showed several signs of coming from an abusive home.
