Situation Report and Video, Destroyed Shelter in Guthrie, OK Dear Annemie,  I am here with the ARC Team, on the ground in Guthrie, Oklahoma, responding to the devastation you saw unfold in news reports just days ago.  You may have seen that the local animal shelter here was destroyed by a tornado this past Tuesday evening.  The cat shelter and the office were completely destroyed and the building that housed dogs is now uninhabitable.  The good news is that all the animals miraculously survived, even with kennels and cages torn free, tossed about and left in piles of rubble. The Shelter Superintendent, Suzy Brown and her team have done an amazing job locating temporary shelter for the sixty-plus dogs and cats in their custody.  However, the housing is only temporary and with limited resources, no shelter facility and calls pouring in for many more animals that need help, Suzy and the town of Guthrie turned to Animal Rescue Corps for help.  I will always remember how this dedicated Superintendent cautiously asked, "What will your services cost?" and how she expressed near disbelief when I explained that Animal Rescue Corps is not here to take precious resources from the community, but to give them.  With absolute pride and gratitude for you, our supporters, I explained it was YOU making this possible.  You are the Corps andwe need you now!     This mission was urgent... there was not the usual time to look for a sponsor or partner to help with the funding for what will be an expensive deployment.  We had to move quickly in order to help the animals of this stricken town.  We have taken vital operating funds and directed them into this disaster relief effort in order to get the team and necessary equipment on the ground here in Oklahoma in less than 24 hours.  I can only make this commitment because I know you will support this effort.  You are the Corps and I know you want your Field Team on the ground here now helping animals and the good people of Guthrie and beyond.    Loading ARC Emergency Transport Now to the work at hand...  We've just completed loading up our climate controlled transport vehicle with the dogs and cats formerly housed in the now destroyed Guthrie Animal Shelter.  This vehicle will deliver the animals to placement partners outside of the affected region where they can be cared for and readily adopted.  This will free up precious space and resources as an emergency shelter is erected for housing and care of those animals out in the Guthrie community still needing help.  We will be expanding our focus, assessing other nearby communities where reports are coming in of other animals displaced by this severe weather and other animal facilities that have been damaged or destroyed.
